Elaine Green has been diving for just three years. Although initially afraid of water, she decided she could not pass up the chance to view the Great Barrier Reef in Australia in all its glory. She and her husband travel annually to other countries to help in local projects that benefit the poor. She has spent her work career in software development and project management.

Seth Goodnight just graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with degrees in biology and chemistry. He is now planning to continue on to graduate school in marine biology. Seth started diving in 2005 and Cocos is only his second dive trip. When he's not diving, Seth enjoys wargaming and figure painting.

Jonathan Jaeger has been around the ocean his entire life, including 8 years in the Coast Guard. Currently living in San Franscisco, he frequently dives along the California coast, but he also manages to find his way to a couple of tropical destinations each year to enjoy diving with lots of clear visibility and no need for a hood for warmth. The Cocos Island expedition is his first for IF.

Jose Nova, is a veterinarian in the Dominican Republic, loves nature and all life. He also loves to serve and help people. He enjoys his work and loves my patients. He works 11 months of the year to take a month off to travel, dive and get back in touch with nature. He is very proud of his wife Nora, and his three children, Karla, Jose, and Stefano. His current project on weekends is a 'non-concrete' project, bulding an open rustic house that blends with it's natural surroundings.

Judy Bennett is a retired medical technologist from New Orleans, Louisiana. She has been diving for 17 years, attaining instructor status. Judy is an original core team member of Imaging Foundation and now manages the catalog and IF website. She has dove extensively throughout the Caribbean and has now expanded her diving horizons through the affiliation with IF. This is her second trip to Cocos Island with IF. Other travels with IF have taken her to North Sulawesi and the Cayman Islands, and there are many more places to explore in the future.

Judy Lang has been organizing and running dive tours for underwater photogaphers for 30 years, along with her husband Rich. She's had a wonderful life diving with old friends, making new ones and sharing exciting adventures. Besides diving, Judy runs for exercise. She also skis, enjoys her grandchildren and traveling.

Kerstin Eggers grew up next to the Pacific Ocean. She learned to swim there and to dive. She has been a dive instructor in the Florida Keys for three years, dives almost every day, but still loves to dive the world, meet new fish, and explore new oceans. She thinks there is no such thing as a bad dive. Now she wants to spend her hours working for ocean conservation as a volunteer for the Ocean Conservancy and IF.

Kyle Johnson is the Executive Director of Student Life Technology at University of Nevada - Las Vegas. He and his wife, Shannon, have logged dives throughout the Caribbean, including Aruba where he logged his 100th dive. Although Cocos is Kyle's first expedition with IF, he has been working with IF for the last four months on the technology infrastructure for IF.

Loyal Ireland lives in Ukiah, Ca and has seen many pictures of Cocos Island. Now he finally gets a chance to see it for himself. He is not a diver, but has been exposed to diving for many years through his son, Jay. He has always enjoyed Jay's many images and stories. I have met many new people on this trip and wish them all well in their future adventures.

Mike Coughlin is currently retired from AT&T where he worked as a lab engineer in software development and IT management. He has been scuba diving for 18 years and has logged about 700 dives. He owns a sailboat on Lake Michigan and does yearly sailing - dive charters in the Caribbean.

Nora Mejia started diving in 1984 when she was 16 years old. She was born in the Dominican Republic and has a small animal veterinary clinic there. She enjoys diving around the world and works as a volunteer with the humpback whales every year in Samara.

Richard Lang is president of the R. Lang Company, a manufacturer and distributor of building and home improvement products. He is past president of the Northern California chapter of the Underwater Photographic Society. He and his wife, Judy, have led diving trips to many remote areas of the world.

Ron Green is the purchasing manager for Central Arkansas Water in Little Rock, Arkansas. Diving has become his #1 hobby, replacing astronomy and other things scientific. Starting this diving adventure late in life means replacing quantity for quality. Cocos is tops on my list now.

Jim Jamison, now 50, has been diving since the early 80's. Living in the desert of Tuscon, Arizona, Jim jumped at the chance to relocate to St Thomas, Virgin Islands in 1995. After surviving 2 hurricanes, Jim has settled in with a condo next to the St Thomas Yacht Club and a boat on the mooring. He now dives now dives almost every weekend. An avid fisherman,Jim will often squeeze in a dive on the way to the fiahing grounds. When not diving or fishing, Jim can be found managing the computer systems at the district Court of the Virgin Islands. Jim and his wife, Laura, love to travel and can often be found relaxing on the dark beaches of Costa Rica.

Shannon Johnson is Director of the North Carolina State University Women's Center. She is also a part-time graduate student working on her doctorate in higher education administration. In her spare time she enjoys scuba diving, nature, and underwater photography and knitting. |
